VJ Day75 ~ Saturday 15th August 2020

VJ Day75 is the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2 in the Far East with the Japanese surrender on 15 August 1945.

At Macduff War Memorial, a short Act of Remembrance was led by the Lord-Lieutenant and the Rev. Hugh O'Brien, Moderator of Buchan Presbytery.  A small number of veterans and their families gathered to remember all those who served in the Far East. A two minute silence was observed and the Lord-Lieutenant laid a wreath on behalf of Banffshire.

Nationally, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, accompanied by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall, led the national two minute silence from the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire.

Find out more about the national commemorations here, and in Scotland at Poppyscotland and Legion Scotland.
